The Sea of Galilee Boat (Discovered by Moshe and Yuval Lufan, Kibbutz Ginosar, Radiocarbon dated 100 BC – AD 100). In January 1986 a drought dropped the Sea of Galilee to its lowest level in decades and exposed the hull of a wooden fishing boat in the mud off Ginosar. Radiocarbon dating places it between 100 BC and AD 100. Nothing connects this particular vessel to any person in the Gospels, and the popular name "the Jesus Boat" claims more than the evidence does — what it gives is the class of boat: the working craft of the Galilee fishermen Christ called from their nets, and of the crossings and storms recorded in the Gospels (Mark 4:35–41). Conserved over years and displayed since 2000 at the Yigal Allon Centre, Ginosar.
